...could land at NAIAS.
Funny how Kia thinks that it can build a better Miata than Mazda!

How is that funny?
Mazda has stagnated and now have the Italians footing the bill for their next Miata.
Are you against progress from all brands or do you just like sounding ignorant?

And it'll probably be FWD... Yeah, I'm preemptively calling this one a major crack pipe.

Technically, it doesn't need to be better. It could be very nearly as good, but 4 large cheaper and it'd do well (provided it's as good in the right areas).
Plus, they're making a better flagship sedan than Lincoln...

I met this guy on my 2011 trip to Japan.
Regarding the car though, if it stick with the Kia way of doing things, it'll look pretty good, drive....okay and certainly have another gutless engine.

Not sure if it will be, the won is getting stronger, and unless Hyundai gets a version, they won't have the economies of scale that Mazda has, via the Alfa cooperation.

It would not surprise me in the least if they did.

Personally, I'd rather build a Factory Five 818.

Why is it funny?
Kia makes great cars. They've got engines to choose from that make more than enough power. This could be fantastic.
Will it be better than a Miata? Probably not, but at least it would be another option

Dunno if anyone (here) will buy it though. I barely see any Kia Forte Koups around, and I don't think people really think of Kia when considering sporty kinda stuff.

Why would it be FWD? Hyundai/Kia makes more RWD cars than Mazda already

Because they never did a proper, lightweight sports car, and like the fwd Mini Roadster, it probably won't be even close to the Miata.

Racing gives sporty pedigree, and Kia said they won't enter any major series, in the near future.

The article assumes Kia wouldn't develop a RWD chassis, and that's for the GT, not the Miata.
It also says Kia doesn't race, which is flat out wrong. http://www.kssmotorsports.com/index.php?opti…

Well, if it's RWD I might change my verdict (since I absolutely love the Genesis Coupe).

It says Kia is not racing in major series, and that official confirmed that it won't do it in the near future. Also, if they didn't bother to make a rwd GT, I'm not sure they will want to put money into a red roadster.
